Dusty
start , boggy finish, describes the change of conditions at the Cornwall
Solo Grass Track at Tregolds Farm, St Merryn on Sunday.
A heavy thunderstorm in the middle of the meeting did
little to stop Jon Orchard continuing his impressive comeback, winning
the 500cc and the Open events and finishing second to Exeter Speedway's
Mark Simmonds in the Junior.
The expected challenge of Wayne Barrett disappeared
after he suffered a series of falls, including on in the Experts event
which dropped him to third place overall. Young man to watch out for
is fifteen years old Clayton Chubb who won the 350cc and Invitation
events.
In the sidecars, Matthew Tyrrell/Shaun Yates completed
a double, firstly from Myles Simmons/Dave Hogan, secondly from South
western visitors Ian McAuley/Darren Wilce. Local comedian, Johnny Cowling,
kept his promise and completed four laps in the chair for Junior Phil
Sims and in doing so raised £665 for a local baby care special
unit.
